James R. Fry was previously employed in the Houston ISD School District. Mr. Fry was Director of bands at Johnston Middle School middle school for the visual & performing arts just prior to relocating in Ohio. He has also taught at Tivy High School in Kerrville, TX, Permian High School in Odessa, TX, Versailles High School in Versailles, OH and Fort Frye High School in Beverly, OH. Mr. Fry has over 25 years of teaching experience. Mr. Fry’s bands and students have consistently received superior ratings at UIL and OMEA district, state contests in marching, concert and jazz band contests.
Mr. Fry earned his Bachelor of Music Education degree from University of Akron, School of Music. He studied with Scott Johnson (principal trumpet of Akron-Canton Symphonies), Doug Huey and Paul Ferguson members of the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra, and Dr. Robert Jorgenson Director of Bands University of Akron and post graduate work at the University of North Texas.
